The Sun From Below Sea Level

This is what you see if you look at the sun while scuba diving.

Lobstermania!

Finally the lobsters came back out today! I haven’t seen one since the season began a few weeks ago. They were everywhere today! I could have easily taken my limit. I didn’t need that many though, so I only took home 3 lobsters. I even found one out in the open. I caught him and moved him to a better part of the reef where he could hide better. They stay fresher longer if you keep them in the ocean;)

Does anyone have a good lobster recipe to share?

Shark Week!

Are you enjoying Shark Week? What do you think…are they man eaters or is it all Hollywood hype?

Here’s a Reef Shark that surprised us in the Keys.

Mini Season!

Yes, there are THREE lobsters in there! Lobster Mini Season began today. For those of you who don’t know, Lobster Mini Season s a 2-day event allowing anyone with a lobster license to catch up to 12 lobsters today and tomorrow (6 in Monroe County). That’s double the limit of the regular season that begins August 6th. For more info check out BugFest-by-the-Sea, or for rules & regulations check out My FWC.

Yellow Stingray

Lobster and Friends

Like Dory from Nemo

I’ve found these Grey Triggerfish are often fascinated by me being in their world. They will often come swimming up to me and follow me around for a while. Right when I forget about them, I’ll turn around and it will be right there in my face again, ready for it’s closeup! With the way their faces look painted with makeup, it’s as if they are posing for the camera. If you look closely you can see what looks like blue eye shadow, fake eyelashes and lipstick!

Fly Like an Eagle Ray

Here’ s a spotted eagle ray I saw while diving the Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach.

Serpents of the Sea

Sharptail Eel – These guys don’t swim like most eels, they crawl around on the ground like a snake and they can even move freely beneath the sand. Don’t worry, they’re harmless 🙂

Happy World Ocean Day

I honor of World Ocean Day, here’s look inside the shipwreck from my previous post. A popular hangout as you can see!
