The Endless Summer

Now that Labor Day is over, it is the “unofficial end of Summer” for most of you. Here in Florida it goes year round though. So when you need a break from Oldman Winter, remember that Florida’s just a plane ride away…

Lobstermania!

Finally the lobsters came back out today! I haven’t seen one since the season began a few weeks ago. They were everywhere today! I could have easily taken my limit. I didn’t need that many though, so I only took home 3 lobsters. I even found one out in the open. I caught him and moved him to a better part of the reef where he could hide better. They stay fresher longer if you keep them in the ocean;)

Does anyone have a good lobster recipe to share?

Balance of Sun

The chaos of soon to be Hurricane Isaac has finally died down tonight. After another day of high winds, heavy rain and flash flood warnings from the National Weather Service, paradise has finally been restored for South Florida.

African Dust

Every year, dust from the Sahara Desert blows thousands of miles across the ocean and fills the Florida sky. This is a photo of what it looked like this year. Read more about it here.

That’s double the limit of the regular season that begins August 6th. For more info check out BugFest-by-the-Sea, or for rules & regulations check out My FWC.

Like Dory from Nemo

I’ve found these Grey Triggerfish are often fascinated by me being in their world. They will often come swimming up to me and follow me around for a while. Right when I forget about them, I’ll turn around and it will be right there in my face again, ready for it’s closeup! With the way their faces look painted with makeup, it’s as if they are posing for the camera. If you look closely you can see what looks like blue eye shadow, fake eyelashes and lipstick!
